Chez Brucie Grand Opening

Article from various sources

This past thursday, Sep14th, marked the long anticipated Grand Opening of the Chez Brucie snack bar; an operation that is an extension of the Senior Staff Mess.

And what an opening it was!

Relocating back to its original location (east of the Security Control Centre), thanks to the completion of the Girouard and Sawyer construction projects, this revamped space, Chez Brucie, is fully operational and ready to serve the needs of everyone working on the peninsula and authorized visitors. And of course, cadets and other students.

The naming of Chez Brucie was a true College team effort, starting with a contest where the staff and students were asked to submit their name ideas.

The Senior Staff Mess (SSM) Executive Committee reviewed all names that were submitted and then provided a list of recommendations to the commandant, at the time, BGen Sean Friday, for review and final decision.

After consultation with the College Executive Committee (the perfect committee to make such important decisions), BGen Friday put his stamp on the winning name – Chez Brucie.

As an identifiable name in both official languages, and imagery unique to the peninsula. The Chez Brucie name and logo (developed by RMC Graphic Designer Christopher Boucher) have received very positive feedback since being announced.

Chez Brucie is intended as a meeting area where staff and students can get their morning coffee and breakfast sandwich, snacks, quick hot lunches, and fresh made sandwiches, wraps and salads.

It also provides a location for cadets and staff to meet, socialize, and study in a well-lit and cheerful environment.

There are times during the course of the year that it is ideal for staff an cadets to meet for a number of reasons. For such informal get-togethers – Chez Brucie is the perfect spot!!

This venue also has the ability to cater to small functions by providing trays of muffins, cookies, sandwiches, and coffee / tea.

For those interested in learning more about what Chez Brucie has to offer -contact the Snack Bar Supervisor (x3627) or SSM Mess Manager (x6654).

To get up-to-date information about daily specials and promotions, staff and cadets can join the Facebook group by searching Chez Brucie.

The perfect spot with a well trained and friendly staff – Chez Brucie promises to be around for a long time.

Chez Brucie sounds like the perfect spot for we old brigaders from the class of 60, to take a rest break after chasing the recruits around the obstacle course at the next reunion.
