We are pleased to announce that the Principal and Commandant of RMCC have approved the application of 27173 OCdt William Carpentier to join the Chasse-Galerie crew. William comes from Trois-Rivières. He spent two years at RMCSJ and is now in Second Year at RMCC (Class of 2018). He is a member of the Rowing Team and has crewed on the “Liam Hassett” rowing shell, the money for which was raised by the first Chasse-Galerie expedition in 2000.
Like the rest of the 15-member crew, he has been tasked with raising at least $2,000 for the Danny McLeod Athletic Endowment Fund. Please make a donation in his name, or that of any other paddler, by phoning Jennifer Jordan (613-541-6000 ext 6807) or visiting the RMC Foundation website
8710 BGen (ret’d) Charles Lemieux has recently joined the Chasse-Galerie crew. He is a member of the Class of 71, was DCWC in his fourth year, had a distinguished military career, is Chair of The Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre Foundation and still plays hockey. Bienvenue à bord, Chuck!
Chuck is replacing 15519 Sandra Sukstorf who unfortunately has left the expedition in order to focus on a serious medical issue in her family.
The canoe is now full – 8 members of the Old Brigade, 5 younger Ex-Cadets and 2 cadets. Four of the crew are women. Fifteen custom cherrywood paddles have been ordered from the Forest Store Huntsville. To represent the three armed services, the blades will display an eagle-wolf-orca motif designed by Kwagiulth artist Jason Hunt.
The canoe will leave Ottawa in the early morning of Friday, 16 Sep and will arrive at RMC on Thursday, 22 Sep, a few hours before the Legacy Dinner.
