Last Thursday, January 12th, an impressive  commissioning ceremony took place for 10 RMC graduates in Currie Hall. This milestone marks the beginning of their career as a second lieutenant in one of the three elements and their deployment into a world full of opportunity. We got the chance to meet with 26555 2Lt. Alex Beaulieu, who just graduated with a degree in chemistry and two minors in Environmental Science and Life Science.

“The commissioning ceremony that took place on the 12th of January 2017 was a surreal event and it was difficult to come to terms with the fact that the day had finally arrived. I am extremely proud to have gone through the “gauntlet” of RMC and finally have graduated the program and receive my commission as an Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. This event was important to me as I received my commission from Colonel Howard G. Coombs who is a great friend and mentor. During my time at RMC I have made friends for life that I can call upon at anytime and they would fly across the world to help me out. I have learned a lot through interacting with people and through my training. I am incredibly excited to start my career as a junior army officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and I am looking forward to being a part of the profession of arms and all the opportunities that come with that. I am also looking forward to meeting new people throughout my career and creating new experiences.”

Students are now posted to different places across the country and are getting ready to start their different training accordingly to their military officer classification. They leave with a ton of great experience from RMC as they dive into the big family that is the Canadian Armed Forces.

Captain  Nicholas Payne and Captain Jean-Pierre Morin from the Training Wing were also both presented with long overdue commissioning scrolls.
